dare you: Question The Love Between Girls

What’s That Dance

www.instagram.com/whatsthatdance/

We were particularly interested in the masculine and feminine stereotypes in the media surrounding female relationships and how they impact woman. Through research, it became apparent that lesbian and bisexual relationships were hugely underrepresented in the media. We wanted to highlight this issue by creating a work that explores these stereotypes whilst celebrating and representing relationships between woman.

‘We want to challenge the stereotypes and create a dance piece in which ALL female relationships are represented and celebrated.’

Both Megan and Jenny studied at Dance City, Newcastle, on the degree programme gaining a BA in Professional Dance Practice. Since graduating, they have had their own individual experiences working with dance company’s nationally, but now have come together to create ‘What’s That Dance’. Not only do they both work collaboratively in creating new work, they work closely in community dance and run their own classes for older adults across South Tyneside.

dare you: Question The Love Between Girls was part of PUG#8 at The Stand Comedy Club 25 August 2019.
