ECHO

Company of Others Ensemble

www.companyofothers.org.uk

Company of Others II is a company of vibrant dancers all over the age of 65 years who make work informed by their life experiences. This is their first performance as a company.

Strongly inspired by the dancers and their stories, ECHO is a hypnotic and quiet exploration of how we arrived here, together and what are the rituals that guided us.

Company of Others is a dance theatre company based in the North East of England, led by Artistic Director and Choreographer Nadia Iftkhar. We create work which highlights and shares stories of the human experience, drawn from the diverse communities we work with. By inviting our audiences to co-author our work, we are able to collaborate with them from concept to performance to create relevant, exposing and poignant dance theatre. Artistry, Diversity & Integrity are our values.

Company of Others II was formed after Nadia worked in partnership with Helix Arts on Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group funded falls prevention programme for people over 65 years – Falling on your Feet. When the programme ended, the dancers who took part were determined to continue their choreographic and performance development and so Company of Others II was created in order to facilitate that. We rehearse weekly at West Denton Community Centre and are always excited to welcome new dancers to the group.

Echo was performed as part of PUG#2 at the Tyneside Irish Centre, 2017.
