PUG#8 Call-out


We’re looking for a solo artist to perform for 10 minutes at the next PUG on Sunday 25th August alongside curated works. 

We’re looking for artists with any (or no) experience of performing to apply.

We are interested in hearing from artists working in different disciplines of performance but we’re not looking for extracts from plays.

This work must be suitable for the venue and be low/no tech (details below).  

Selected acts will receive:

– An artist’s fee of £150

– Travel expenses and hotel accommodation if coming from outside the North East

– Photo and film documentation of the performance


PUG#8 Event Information

DATE: 25th August 2019 

SHOW TIME: 7.00pm (doors), 8.30pm – 10.30pm (performance)

WHERE: The Stand Comedy Club, Newcastle 

TECH TIME: After 5pm on 25th August 2019. We will email out a tech schedule two weeks before the show date. The tech slot is only 15 minutes! Please bare this in mind when applying.  

VENUE INFO: The venue at The Stand Comedy Club has a capacity of 300 and cabaret seating. The floor is unsprung and performance space is limited. Please click here, scroll to bottom of the page and select ‘stage’ for a virtual tour. 

ACCESSIBILITY: Please click here for venue access information. 

BSL: PUG is BSL interpreted. If selected you will need to supply PUG with any texts/scripts/tracks two weeks before the show date. 

TECH: Due to the limited time we are in the space, PUG#8 will be low tech. We have the following available: Sound – Basic PA, microphone. Lighting – Warm wash.

PUG, performance cabaret night is back at GIFT Festival 2019.

PUG is an evening of comedy, dance, art and all the glorious things in between. Highly political, soulful and surprising, PUG presents performances by visual artists, dancers, poets, theatre-makers and people who work across all these art forms.

And there’s a cheeky disco.

Hosted by Hannah Walker, Rosa Postlethwaite and Jamie Cook.

Tickets: PUG tickets are Pay What You Decide.
When you arrive at PUG you will be given an envelope in which you can anonymously pay an amount of your choice for your ticket. Please leave this at the front desk during or after the show.
